SURAH HUD
Main message of Surah Hūd:
- Worship Allah alone
- Repent and seek forgiveness
- Stay patient and steadfast through hardship
- Learn from the stories of past prophets and nations
- Avoid injustice and corruption
- Trust Allah, because all matters return to Him
✴️11:1 This is a Book whose verses are perfected and explained in detail, from Allah, the All-Wise and All-Aware.
✴️11:2 Worship none except Allah. The Prophet is sent as a warner and bearer of good news.
✴️11:3 Seek forgiveness from Allah and repent; He grants blessings for a time and rewards those who do good.
✴️11:4 To Allah is your return, and He has power over all things.
✴️11:5 Some try to hide their thoughts from Allah, but He knows what they conceal and reveal.
✴️11:6 Every living creature’s provision is with Allah; He knows where each lives and rests.
✴️11:7 Allah created the heavens and earth to test who does the best deeds. Some still deny resurrection.
✴️11:8 If punishment is delayed, people ask mockingly why it has not come; when it arrives, it cannot be turned away.
✴️11:9 When people receive mercy and then lose it, they may become hopeless and ungrateful.
✴️11:10 When relief comes after hardship, people may become arrogant and forgetful.
✴️11:11 Except those who are patient and do righteous deeds; for them is forgiveness and a great reward.
✴️11:12 The Prophet may feel burdened because some reject the message and demand signs or treasures. Allah is the Guardian over all things.
✴️11:13 If people say the Qur’an was invented, challenge them to produce something comparable and call whoever they can besides Allah.
✴️11:14 If they cannot respond, know that the Qur’an was revealed with Allah’s knowledge; there is no god except Him.
✴️11:15 Whoever desires only worldly life and its adornments will receive the results of their efforts in this world.
✴️11:16 But in the Hereafter, such people may have nothing except loss if they ignored faith and righteousness.
✴️11:17 Is one who follows clear proof from Allah equal to one who rejects it? Believers recognize truth from their Lord.
✴️11:18 Who is more unjust than one who invents lies about Allah? Such people will be brought before their Lord.
✴️11:19 They turn others away from Allah’s path and seek to distort it, while denying the Hereafter.
✴️11:21 They are the ones who ruined themselves, and the false things they relied on will disappear.
✴️11:23 Those who believe, do righteous deeds, and humble themselves before their Lord will be the people of Paradise, remaining there forever.
✴️11:24 The example of the two groups (believers and disbelievers) is like the blind and deaf compared with the seeing and hearing. They are not equal.
✴️11:27 The leaders among Noah’s people said: “We see you only as a human like us, followed by those we consider low in status.”
✴️11:28 Noah replied: “If I stand on clear evidence from my Lord and have received mercy from Him, can we force you to accept it if you dislike it?”
✴️11:29 Noah said: “I do not ask you for wealth in return. My reward is with Allah. I will not drive away the believers.”
✴️11:30 “Who would help me against Allah if I expelled them? Will you not reflect?”
✴️11:31 Prophet Noah said: “I do not claim to possess Allah’s treasures, nor know the unseen, nor say I am an angel. And I do not say believers are unworthy; Allah knows what is in them.”
✴️11:32 His people replied: “You have argued with us long enough. Bring the punishment you warn us about, if you are truthful.”
✴️11:34 Advice will not benefit you if Allah has decreed to leave you astray. He is your Lord, and to Him you will return.
✴️11:36 It was revealed to Noah that no more of his people would believe except those who already had faith. He was told not to grieve over what they did.
✴️11:37 Allah instructed Noah to build the Ark under divine guidance and not plead for those who persisted in wrongdoing.
✴️11:38 As Noah built the Ark, his people mocked him. He replied that one day they would know who would face humiliation.
✴️11:39 Noah warned them that disgraceful punishment would come and lasting punishment would fall upon them.
✴️11:40 When Allah’s command came and the flood began, Noah was told to take pairs of creatures and his believing family except those already judged and the believers with him. Only a few believed.
✴️11:41 Noah said: “Board the Ark. In the name of Allah it sails and anchors. My Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.”
✴️11:42 The Ark moved through waves like mountains. Noah called to his son, urging him to come aboard and not remain with the disbelievers.
✴️11:43 His son replied: “I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water.” Noah said: “Today none can protect from Allah’s decree except those He shows mercy.” Then the waves separated them.
✴️11:44 The earth was told to absorb its water and the sky to stop raining. The flood ended, and the Ark came to rest on a mountain.
✴️11:45 Noah called upon Allah regarding his son, asking because he was from his family.
✴️11:46 Allah replied that his son was not among those worthy of the promise due to his actions, and told Noah not to ask without knowledge.
✴️11:47 Noah sought forgiveness and said he would not ask again about matters he did not understand.
✴️11:48 Noah was told: “Go down in peace and blessings upon you and the believing communities that will come from you.”
✴️11:49 These stories of the unseen are revealed as lessons. The Prophet and believers are instructed to be patient; the good end belongs to those mindful of Allah.
✴️11:50 To the people of ʿĀd, Allah sent Prophet Hūd, saying: “Worship Allah alone; you have no god besides Him.”
✴️11:51 Prophet Hūd said: “I ask no payment from you for this message. My reward is with the One who created me. Will you not understand?”
✴️11:52 “Seek forgiveness from your Lord and repent. He will send rain in abundance and increase you in strength. Do not turn away in sin.”
✴️11:53 The people replied: “You have not brought clear proof. We will not abandon our gods because of your words.”
✴️11:54 They said: “We think one of our gods has harmed your mind.” Hūd answered: “I call Allah to witness that I reject what you associate with Him.”
✴️11:55 “Plot against me together with your false gods, and give me no delay.”
✴️11:56 “I trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Every creature is under His control. My Lord is upon the straight path.”
✴️11:57 “If you turn away, I have delivered the message. Allah can replace you with another people, and you cannot harm Him.”
✴️11:58 When Allah’s command came, Hūd and the believers with him were saved by Allah’s mercy from severe punishment.
✴️11:59 The people of ʿĀd rejected their Lord’s signs, disobeyed His messengers, and followed arrogant leaders.
✴️11:60 They were followed by condemnation in this world and on the Day of Resurrection. The people of ʿĀd denied their Lord and were destroyed.
✴️11:61 To the people of Thamūd, Allah sent Prophet Ṣāliḥ, saying: “Worship Allah alone. He created you from the earth and settled you in it. Seek His forgiveness and repent.”
✴️11:62 They replied: “O Ṣāliḥ, you were once among us respected and hoped for. Do you now forbid us from worshipping what our ancestors worshipped?”
✴️11:63 Ṣāliḥ said: “If I stand upon clear proof from my Lord and mercy from Him, who could protect me from Allah if I disobeyed Him?”
✴️11:64 He said: “This she-camel is a sign from Allah. Leave her to graze and do not harm her, or punishment will come.”
✴️11:65 But they harmed the she-camel. Ṣāliḥ warned them they would have only a short time before punishment arrived.
✴️11:66 When Allah’s command came, Ṣāliḥ and the believers were saved by His mercy, while others faced disgrace.
✴️11:67 A terrible cry struck the wrongdoers, and they fell lifeless in their homes.
✴️11:68 It was as though they had never prospered there. The people of Thamūd denied their Lord and were destroyed.
✴️11:69 Messengers (angels) came to Prophet Abraham with good news. They exchanged greetings, and Abraham quickly prepared food for them.
✴️11:71 Abraham’s wife was standing nearby and laughed. Then she was given glad news of the birth of Isaac, and after Isaac, Jacob.
✴️11:72 She said in surprise: “How can I give birth when I am old and my husband is elderly? This is astonishing.”
✴️11:73 The angels said: “Are you amazed at Allah’s decree? Allah’s mercy and blessings are upon the household of Abraham.”
✴️11:74 After Abraham’s fear left and the good news reached him, he began speaking to the angels concerning the people of Lot.
✴️11:76 The angels said: “O Abraham, leave this matter. Allah’s command has come, and unavoidable punishment will reach them.”
✴️11:77 When the messengers came to Prophet Lot, he became distressed, fearing for their safety among his people.
✴️11:78 Lot’s people came rushing toward him, intending evil. Lot said: “These are my daughters (women of the community); they are purer for you. Fear Allah and do not disgrace me regarding my guests.”
✴️11:81 The angels said: “O Lot, we are messengers from your Lord. Your people will not reach you. Leave with your family during the night, except your wife; she will face what the others face.”
✴️11:84 To the people of Madyan, Allah sent Prophet Shuʿayb, saying: “Worship Allah alone. Do not reduce measures and weights unjustly. I see you in prosperity, but I fear punishment for you.”
✴️11:85 Shuʿayb said: “Give full measure and weight fairly. Do not cheat people or spread corruption on earth.”
✴️11:86 “What remains lawful from Allah is better for you, if you believe. I am not a guardian over you.”
✴️11:87 They replied mockingly: “Does your prayer command you to tell us to abandon what our ancestors worshipped or how we use our wealth?”
✴️11:88 Shuʿayb said: “I rely on clear proof from my Lord and lawful provision from Him. I only seek reform as much as I am able. My success is through Allah.”
✴️11:89 “Do not let opposition to me cause you to suffer what happened to the people of Noah, Hūd, Ṣāliḥ, or Lot.”
Main message
✴️11:91 The people of Shuʿayb said: “We do not understand much of what you say, and we see you as weak among us. If not for your family, we would have harmed you.”
✴️11:92 Shuʿayb replied: “Is my family more respected by you than Allah? You have ignored Him. My Lord knows all you do.”
✴️11:93 “My people, continue in your way, and I will continue in mine. You will soon know who receives humiliating punishment and who is lying.”
✴️11:94 When Allah’s command came, Shuʿayb and the believers with him were saved by mercy from Allah. The wrongdoers were struck down and fell lifeless in their homes.
✴️11:95 It was as though they had never lived there. The people of Madyan were destroyed, like the people of Thamūd before them.
✴️11:97 Moses was sent to Pharaoh and his leaders, but they followed Pharaoh’s command, which was misguided.
✴️11:98 On the Day of Resurrection, Pharaoh will lead his people into punishment; what a terrible destination.
✴️11:99 They were followed by a curse in this world and on the Day of Judgment. Miserable is the fate they received.
✴️11:100 These are accounts of past communities. Some traces remain, while others have disappeared completely.
✴️11:101 Allah did not wrong those destroyed communities; they wronged themselves. The things they worshipped besides Allah could not save them.
✴️11:102 Such is Allah’s punishment when He seizes communities persisting in wrongdoing; His punishment is severe.
✴️11:103 In these events is a sign for those who fear the Hereafter a Day when all people will be gathered.
✴️11:105 When that Day comes, no one will speak except by Allah’s permission. Some will be miserable, and some blessed.
✴️11:109 Do not be in doubt about what these people worship. They only follow the ways of their forefathers. Their full share will come to them.
✴️11:110 Moses was given the Scripture, but differences arose about it. If not for Allah’s decree delaying judgment, the matter would already have been settled.:
✴️11:111 Your Lord will fully repay everyone according to what they did. He is aware of all actions.
✴️11:112 Remain steadfast as commanded, along with those who repent with you. Do not transgress; Allah sees what you do.
✴️11:113 Do not incline toward wrongdoing or oppressors, lest harm touch you. You have no protector besides Allah.
✴️11:114 Establish prayer at the prescribed times. Good deeds help erase bad deeds. This is a reminder for those who reflect.
✴️11:115 Be patient and steadfast; Allah does not let the reward of those who do good go to waste.
✴️11:116 Why were there not more righteous people among past nations who prevented corruption on earth? Only a few did so.
✴️11:117 Allah would not destroy communities unjustly while their people were reforming and doing good.
✴️11:118 If Allah had willed, He could have made humanity one community, but people continue to differ.
✴️11:119 Except those upon whom Allah shows mercy. For this purpose they were created, and Allah’s decree will be fulfilled.
✴️11:120 The stories of the messengers are told to strengthen the Prophet’s heart and bring truth, guidance, and reminder to believers.
To Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. All matters return to Him. Worship Him and trust in Him; your Lord is not unaware of what people do.
✴️11:122 “Wait, and we too are waiting.”
✴️11:123 To Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. All matters return to Him. Worship Him and trust in Him; your Lord is not unaware of what people do.
